Taxiphyllum sp. ‘Peacock,’ commonly known as Peacock Moss, is a popular aquatic moss used in aquariums and terrariums. Native to Southeast Asia, it does best in slow-moving or still waters and can be found encursted on rocks, driftwood and other submerged natural surfaces. It features rich green color and delicate, feathery fronds, making it a favored choice for aquascaping and terrarium building.
Peacock Moss also provides excellent shade and coverage for shrimp, fish and other microfauna. Itcan be attached to hardscape material to create tree-like structures, cover unnatural cuts or simply left free floating or placed in the foreground. After it establishes itself in a healthy planted aquarium tank, it grows to be quite thick as opposed to the more common Java Moss. It is quite forgiving and can be grown in a wide range of aquarium conditions and water parameters.
