Remarks: Dragon Puffers, also referred to as Humpback Puffers, are large, moderately aggressive pufferfish from Indonesia. They should be kept in a tank at least 30 gallons if you are keeping a single specimen. They can be aggressive with each other so plenty of caves should be provided if kept with other dragon puffers but it is usually best to keep this species solitary. They are piscivorous and will eat anything that gets too close.
Like with all puffers, dragon puffers need to be able to grind their ever-growing teeth down so foods such as whole shrimp, mussels, clams, and snails should be provided regularly. As they like to burrow, their tank should have a deep, soft sand substrate. It is very entertaining to watch this fish engage in this behavior that leaves only their eyes and mouth sticking out of the sand.
