Azurite is a striking copper-based mineral found in shades of deep blue to vivid green, sometimes in the same formations. It is a relatively soft mineral, and when exposed to the elements over a long period of time can change into the closely related malachite. Due to its incredibly vivid and deep coloration, Azurite has been sought after since ancient times as a gem and for use in blue pigment. Our specimens consist of fine crystals spread across a matrix in shades of both blue and green.
