Remarks: Pea Puffers are the smallest known species of pufferfish in the world. These tiny freshwater puffers are mostly found in calm waters in India. They appreciate lots of cover in the form of plants, driftwood, and floaters. They can be nippy towards other fish, especially those that have long, trailing fins, but overall they are peaceful fish and can live with a variety of small community fish. Do not house pufferfish with shrimp or snails unless you are okay with them getting eaten by the puffer. While a single pea puffer can be housed in a 5 gallon tank, it is recommended to add another 5 gallons for each additional puffer (ex: 2 puffers need 10 gallons) and provide plenty of breaks in their line of sight to prevent fighting.
Like with all puffers, dwarf pea puffers need to be able to grind their ever-growing teeth down so foods such as whole shrimp, mussels, clams, and snails should be provided regularly.
